Expert keynote speakers and submitted conference papers explored different dimensions of the implementation process, with dedicated program streams focusing on how we can improve the design, selection, implementation and evaluation of evidence-informed policies, programs and practices in the health, education and human service sectors.

Brian Bumbarger is Founding Director of the Evidence-based Prevention and Intervention Support Center (EPISCenter) at the Penn State University Prevention Research Center, where he leads the Dissemination and Implementation (Translational Research) Unit. The EPISCenter is among the world’s first centres dedicated to the study and practice of scaling-up effective interventions for preventing youth crime and drug use and promoting positive youth development. Brian has worked for over a decade to research and support more than 200 replications of evidence-based programs in trials and natural conditions, focusing on issues of dissemination, high quality implementation, sustainability, and cost-benefit analysis.

Professor Lawrence W. Green is Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the School of Medicine (and affiliate Faculty the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education) at the University of California at San Francisco. He has broad experience in health education, prevention, population health, and community interventions for health promotion and risk reduction. Lawrence has authored numerous text books including Health Program Planning: An Educational and Ecological Approach which has resulted in more than 1,000 published applications of his Precede-Proceed socio-environmental model. He serves on the editorial boards of more than 12 journals focusing on preventive medicine and public health.

Professor John N. Lavis is Director of the McMaster Health Forum (www.mcmasterhealthforum.org) and Professor at McMaster University in Canada. He led the creation and oversees the continuous updating of Health Systems Evidence (www.healthsystemsevidence.org), the world’s most comprehensive, free access point for high-quality evidence about how to strengthen or reform health systems and how to get cost-effective programs, services and drugs to those who need them. Dr Michael Little is the Co-Director of The Social Research Unit based at Dartington in the UK and holds professorial positions at the universities of Bath and Exeter, and is Visiting Fellow at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago. Michael’s research focuses on how children's services impact on child development, with an emphasis on connecting research, policy and practice. His work has been used in the formulation of policy and practice in England, Europe and the United States. Michael has written more than 10 books and over 100 publications on child development and services aimed at reducing social need.
